Ryan Zgombic, Men’s Lacrosse/T3 Intern
As an intern, coach, and athlete, I cannot speak highly enough of the quality of the experience I had both learning and training at T3 Performance this last summer.
One of the first things you’ll notice as soon as you walk in is that everyone, coaches and athletes included, will say hello. A staple of T3 is that everyone has clear respect for each other and treats each other accordingly. Everyone who walks into the gym has a purpose and goal, and everyone respects each other and the body of work they put together every day. Whether it’s a highschool or pro athlete, everyone works together to create an environment where you feel welcome, safe, and respected -- that starts when you walk in the door.
Another staple of the T3 Mentality is one of our mottos: Guard The Standard. The Standard is something set by everyone in the gym, and is an expectation we hold each other to at all times. One of the key points of The Standard is the extreme attention to detail. Whether that’s making sure weights are put away after use, using clips on barbells, or redoing reps until they’re done right, everyone is held accountable to maintaining The Standard we hold ourselves to. As the banner on the back wall says: “How you do anything is how you do everything.” Athletes have their own responsibilities as mentioned before, as do the coaches and interns. With everyone looking out for each other, together we uphold these values that make our gym what it is.
These qualities make T3 not only a great place to train, but also a great place to work. As part of my internship, I had the opportunity to coach small groups and individuals as a member of the coaching staff. The energy each and every member of our unique staff brings makes everyday feel like gameday. With our collective breadth of knowledge stemming from diverse backgrounds, there is no problem we cannot solve. With new projects and ideas generated constantly, working here has the feeling of a startup. Coaches are constantly learning from each other, sharing experiences, and working together, which is what makes us such a close-knit and unstoppable group.
T3 truly does feel like a family, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with them and find the best version of myself each and every day. Owner Brian Cao has been nothing short of amazing for all the support and guidance he has offered me as a mentor, leader, and friend, teaching me values and lessons that go beyond the weightroom into life. I know that every goal I set my mind to, I can achieve. The guidance I receive from Brian and the other coaches, as well as the experiences of working with great athletes as both a coach and athlete, will last a lifetime.
